Pietro Giacomo Nonis (born April 24, 1927 in Fossalta di Portogruaro , Province of Venice , Italy , † July 15, 2014 in Vicenza ) was bishop of the Vicenza diocese .

Life

Pietro Giacomo Nonis received on 2 July 1950, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He was Professor of Philosophy and Vice Rector of the University of Padua .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Vicenza on February 20, 1988 . The Patriarch of Venice , Marco Cardinal Cé , donated him episcopal ordination on April 9, 1988 ; Co- consecrators were Abramo Freschi , Bishop of Concordia-Pordenone , and Arnoldo Onisto , Bishop Emeritus of Vicenza. His episcopal motto was Sub Tuum praesidium . On October 6, 2003, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

He was the initiator of the renovation of the Vicenza Cathedral Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata, Duomo di Vicenza and was able to invite Pope John Paul II to complete it in 1991. He was the initiator of the beatification of Giovanna Meneghini , the founder of the Ursuline Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Mary ( Suore orsoline del Sacro Cuore di Maria ).
