Pigeon Point Beach , also Pigeon's Beach , is a beach near English Harbor in Saint Paul's Parish , on the south coast of the island of Antigua , in the state of Antigua and Barbuda .
Lay and landscape
The Pigeon Beach ( English pigeon 'dove' ) is located on the Middle Ground peninsula , which separates Falmouth Bay from Freeman's Bay , the two natural harbors of English Harbor. It is on the west side, towards the mouth of Falmouth Bay, and extends in a crescent shape from Pigeon Point in the north to Blake's Point in the south.
Like all beaches in Antigua, it is of pure white sand and on the land side it is lined with trees. It is easily accessible from English Harbor and is one of the island's popular weekend beaches. It has small infrastructure such as showers, a playground and a beach bar
In 1984 it was integrated into Nelson's Dockyard National Park ( NDNP ), which is the largest national park on the island with over 40 km². In 1988 it was - along with 7 other beaches - declared as closed to private development by the government (“ to remain undeveloped ”).
The Middle Ground Trail is a hiking trail to Fort Berkeley and the museum harbor Nelson's Dockyard on the other side of the peninsula.
