Pigtail
The word pigtail (English for "pig's tail ") denotes:
- A hairstyle, the rat tail , or the braid ring , a hair ornament.
- A patch cable in network technology .
- In high-frequency technology, a short cable which is provided with HF plugs or sockets at both ends ; especially the Hirose U.FL connector is so called in the WLAN sector
- A short piece of fiber optic cable , which is pre-assembled with a fiber optic connector on one side .
- An EMC- unfavorable form of connection for the cable shield , in which the shielding braid is twisted into an additional wire and connected with a certain length to the earth or the device shield . A full-surface, coaxial (all-round) grounding is better. If this is not possible, several, as short as possible, pigtails should be brought out and connected in a circle around the inner conductor (s).
- In cardiology, a catheter shape that is used in cardiac catheter examinations to show the ventricular pump function and the valvular closing function.
- In medicine , some drainage catheters are also referred to as pigtails.
- In urology , the ureteral splints are called this because of their pig-tail-like shape ( double-J-splint , double-J-catheter)
