Pikrolimni ( Greek Πικρολίμνη ( f. Sg. )) Is a municipality in the municipality of Kilkis in Central Macedonia , Greece . It is located between the Macedonian capital Thessaloniki (around 30 km south) and the community center Kilkis (Κιλκίς) around 20 km northeast. Until 2010, Pikrolimni was an independent municipality in Kilkis Prefecture .
The name Pikrolimni comes from the nearby lake of the same name and translates as 'bitter lake' (Greek pikros πικρός 'bitter' and limni λίιμνη 'lake'). The administrative seat of the municipality was Mikrokambos, which is located directly on the lake itself.
