Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Pilosocereus aurisetus is common in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais .

The first description as Pilocereus aurisetus was published in 1933 by Erich Werdermann (1892-1959). Ronald Stewart Byles and Gordon Douglas Rowley placed them in the genus Pilosocereus in 1957 . A synonym is Pseudopilocereus aurisetus (Werderm.) Buxb.

There will be the two subspecies :

  • Pilosocereus aurisetus subsp. aurisetus
  • Pilosocereus aurisetus subsp. aurilanatus

distinguished.

The subspecies Pilosocereus aurisetus subsp. aurilanatus was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Endangered , d (EN)". H. endangered, classified. After the list was revised in 2013, the species will be classified as " Least Concern (LC) ", i. H. listed as not endangered and the subspecies Pilosocereus aurisetus subsp. aurilanatus excluded from the list.
