Mushroom (record label)
Pilz was a German record label from Ohr & Pilz Musik Produktion , Berlin, and was active in 1971 and 1972. 20 LPs and 7 singles were released on Pilz.
history
The origins of Pilz go back to BASF Musikproduktion . A BASF Musikproduktion label designed by Jürgen Schmeisser for the growing German rock market called mouse , which had already produced albums with groups such as Dies Irae , Ardo Dombec , McChurch Soundroom or Virus, was in favor of the label founded at the same time by Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser and Peter Meisel Mushroom set again. On Pilz , for which BASF took over the distribution, the finished starter package was published by mouse without further ado .
In contrast to the psychedelic, electronically oriented label Ohr , which Kaiser also ran, Pilz concentrated more on folk-oriented, quieter rock bands. The label's history ended in 1972 with the release of Popol Vuh's Hosanna mantra .
Well-known artists who published on Pilz included a. Wallenstein and Jerry Berkers (solo album), as well as Popol Vuh , Witthüser & Westrupp or Hölderlin . In the 1980s, the editions of Pilz experienced a comeback as reissues on the Pop Import Mikulski label .
Appearance
The trademark of the label is a toadstool , which adorns the front cover with a small plate number and can be seen in large on the label on page 1. The page 2 label contains the title list for both pages. Numerous long-playing records in the original edition appeared as gatefold covers, designed with photographs by the artist Marcel Fugère.
Discography
The issues are sorted by year and in the year by ascending plate number. The Pilz label did not assign its own numbers, but included its issues in the numbering of BASF.
