history

The crumbling machine emerged from the folk band Les Autres , founded in 1966 . The name of the band goes back to a cannabis shredding device and the sound of a motorcycle that belonged to a friend of band member Jenni Schücker. The band members lived in a municipality in Duisburg and belonged to the first German rock bands at the end of the 1960s. The first line-up included Peter Bursch , Willi Kissmer , Lutz Ringer, Jenni Schücker, and Michael Hellbach.

The band broke up in 1973. In 1974, 1975 and 1984 new formations took place. The band has been back on stage since December 2005, initiated by a WDR Rockpalast TV recording in which former band member Helge Schneider also participated. Peter Bursch and Detlef Wiederhöft from the formation from 1975 are still there, Michael Dommers played in the formation in 1983. Waldo Karpenkiel was the band's long-time drummer . Tom Plötzer and Manni von Bohr have been members since 2005, and Liz completed the formation at the end of 2014. She has now been replaced by Stella Tonon. The band is complemented by Nippy Noya or Pitti Hecht on percussion instruments.

In May 2008 the band released a DVD and a CD, on which concert recordings of the Burg-Herzberg Festival and the Rockpalast Concert Bonn as well as interviews can be seen and heard.

With Indian Camel , the band released the first studio album in 32 years after a year of work in June 2017. The guests Helge Schneider, Lulo Reinhardt and Nippi Noya take part in the production.

In 2018 the band celebrated its 50th anniversary with various concerts and a. At the Herzberg Festival and with a large exhibition in the Cubus Kunsthalle, the city of Duisburg paid tribute to the band's many years of work.
