Ping Qiu

Ping Qiu (* 1961 in Wuhan , Hubei Province ) is a Chinese artist. She lives and works in Berlin and Brandenburg .

Artistic creation

The motif of the "finger flowers" is a constant appearing in Ping Qiu's work. She creates these finger flowers by inflating standard household gloves and then sewing them together to form flowers. Floating on the water like this, these profane rubber gloves become delicate water lilies, while only two gloves sewn together and attached to a fishing net take the form of crabs.

The motif of finger flowers is not only implemented through the use of rubber gloves , but is also continued in other materials such as bronze and alabaster plaster .
