Pingxiang
Pingxiang ( Chinese 萍乡 市 , Pinyin Píngxiāng Shì ) is a district-free city in the west of the Chinese province of Jiangxi .
The administrative area of the city has an area of 3,827 km² and approx. 1,811,000 inhabitants (end of 2004).
The Former Club of Railway Workers and Miners of Anyuan (安源 路 矿工 人 俱乐部 旧址, ānyuán lùkuàng gōngrén jùlèbù jiùzhǐ) located in the urban area is on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China and is now open to the public along with a large memorial and museum.
Administrative structure
At the county level, Pingxiang is made up of two municipalities and three counties. These are:
- Anyuan district (安源 区), 212 km², 370,000 inhabitants (end of 2002), center, seat of the city government;
- Xiangdong District (湘东区), 853 km², 390,000 inhabitants (end of 2002);
- Lianhua County (莲花 县), 1,062 km², 240,000 inhabitants (end of 2002), capital: Qinting Municipality (琴 亭镇);
- Shangli district (上栗县), 712 km², 490,000 inhabitants (end of 2002), capital: Shangli municipality (上 栗 镇);
- Luxi district (芦溪 县), 963 km², 270,000 inhabitants (end of 2002), main town: Luxi municipality (芦溪 镇).
