Fuzhou ( Chinese  撫州 市  /  抚州 市 , Pinyin Fǔzhōu Shì ) is a district-free city in Jiangxi Province , People's Republic of China . The city is also known by its former name, Linchuan .

Fuzhou is located south of the provincial capital Nanchang . The area of ​​the city is 18,817 square kilometers and the population is 4.0 million (2010 census).
