Pioneros de Ciudad Obregón is a former Mexican football club based in Ciudad Obregón , Sonora . The home ground of the so far only professional football club from Ciudad Obregón was the Estadio Manuel Piri Sagasta .

The franchise called Pioneros was founded in the summer of 2004 with the acquisition of the second division license of the Guerreros de Tlaxcala and was represented in the second-rate Primera División 'A' for one season in the 2005/06 season before the license to Tijuana Gallos Caliente at the end of the season was resold.
In their first half-season , Apertura 2004 , the team started with a flawless home record of four wins and 5-0 goals, before they lost their first home defeat in their fifth home game against Lagartos de Tabasco (1: 2) on matchday nine . Although the Pioneros later lost another home game (also 1: 2 against UAT Correcaminos ) and could not win a single away game in this half-round, they were second in the group and qualified for the Repechaje , in which they against the UANL Tigres farm team Broncos from Los Mochis were defeated, which prevented them from jumping into the Liguillas .
In the Clausura 2005 , the Pioneros achieved their only away win of the season at the Delfines de Coatzacoalcos (2-1) on February 9, 2005 , but had to admit defeat on their own three times and missed the Liguillas again.
The Pioneros' best-known players included the Argentine goalkeeper José Pablo Burtuvoy , the Mexican defender Juan Carlos Zaragoza , the Mexican midfielder Ricardo Munguía and the Argentine striker Leandro Caruso as well as his fellow strikers Cristián Ariel Morales and Juan Ángel Paredes . His Argentine compatriot Morales formed the storm duo with Caruso in the Apertura, the Paraguayan Paredes did the same after Morales' departure in the Clausura.
