Guerreros de Tlaxcala is a former Mexican football club from Tlaxcala , the capital of the state of Tlaxcala of the same name .

history

The Grupo Pegaso , owner of CF Oaxaca , converted its second division license to the Guerreros de Tlaxcala at the end of the 2002/03 season , which were run as the farm team of the first division club CD Irapuato . The Guerreros are the first and so far only team to represent the smallest Mexican state in the 1994/95 Primera División 'A' (now Ascenso MX ). Previously, the state of Tlaxcala was only represented by the Lobos de Tlaxcala from 1979 to 1982 in the then still second-class Segunda División in the second division . The home ground of both clubs was the Estadio Tlahuícole , where the Guerreros played in front of an average of around three thousand spectators.

In the Apertura 2003 the Guerreros only got two wins and at the end of this half- season they finished last in their group with 14 points and the third-worst place of all 20 second division clubs, placed only in front of the teams from Inter Riviera Maya and, each with 12 points Jaguares de Tapachula . Argentine striker Cristián Ariel Morales scored nine of their only 19 goals . The club's second best scorer in the same period was Mexican striker Juan Manuel Guerra with four goals.

In the Clausura 2004 the Guerreros made a brilliant start. A 3-1 home win against the Jaguares de Tapachula on the second matchday was followed by a 3-1 away win at Inter Riviera Maya on the third matchday and a subsequent 1-0 home win against Celaya FC , so that the team was up after four matchdays found nine points in the top group. But in the further course of the season only three more victories were added, so that the Guerreros improved in the final table to 20 points, but again took the last place in their group. The club's most successful strikers in the Clausura were the Brazilian strikers Ademilson Correa and Josías Ferreira Da Silva , who both scored seven goals and had played CD Irapuato in the 2003 Apertura for the “mother club”.

Other well-known Guerrero players were the Mexicans Ricardo Munguía Pérez and Jairo Ugalde Castrejón .
