Pippin (Vermandois)
Pippin († after 850) was a son of King Bernhard of Italy († 818) and the Kunigunde from the Frankish ruling family of the Carolingians .
Pippin is mentioned in 834 as a supporter of his great-uncle, Emperor Ludwig the Pious , in the fight against his eldest son Lothar I , although the Emperor had once ordered his father to be blinded, which led to his death. Pippin is mentioned a second time for the year 840, when he passed from the supporters of King Charles the Bald to Emperor Lothar I in the Carolingian fratricidal struggle . After that, nothing more is known about him.
From a marriage to an unknown woman, Pippin had three sons:
- Bernhard
- Pippin († after 893)
- Heribert I († after 900), Count of Vermandois
