The Pirate Security Conference ( German  Pirate Security Conference , PSC ) whose patron the Pirate Parties International are is one since 2015 takes place parallel to the Munich Security Conference in Munich conference. It has been held annually in February since 2015. It has been cooperating with the Munich Security Conference since 2016 and is supported by the national and several international pirate parties. In the first instance, the event is aimed at all European citizens, parties and associations. At the same time, the conference would also like to offer the responsible ministries and authorities, embassies and consulates located in Germany and international companies a forum to exchange ideas on security issues. The Pirate Security Conference was initiated by Stiftung 42 , the party foundation of the Pirate Party Germany , and is now organized and carried out by the Pirate Party Germany. Topics that were dealt with in this context, among other things, were key technologies for security precautions, medialization and capitalization of the security apparatus as well as cybersecurity and other related topics. Speakers at the conference so far have included the politician Angelika Beer , the correspondent and author Peter Finkelgruen , the journalist Enno Lenze and the politician Birgitta Jónsdóttir .

Goal of the conference

The aim of the conference, initiated in 2015, is to provide a framework where various interested parties and groups can exchange ideas in an official setting and develop and present new ideas. For the various pirate parties, the conference is also a way for experts to get new ideas in areas that they are working on politically and to enter into a dialogue with politicians and these experts. The same applies to visitors attending the conference; it is a link and a platform for dialogue between the professional world and society.

Conference 2015

The 2015 conference entitled: " Post-Snowden Security Policy " took place on January 24th and 25th, 2015. The topics were “New challenges in international security policy”, “Critical infrastructure and its protective measures” and “Terrorist threat - facts, myths and reality”. Speakers were the chairwoman of the Pirate Party Bavaria, Nicole Britz , the freelance journalist Enno Lenze , Angelika Beer a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament and former Bundestag and MEPs, Rob Imre and the lawyer Yvonne Hofstetter .

Conference 2016

In 2016, the conference took place for the first time from February 11th to 13th, 2016 in the conference & conference hotel Cristal in Munich. The speakers included the Icelandic pirate politician Birgitta Jónsdóttir , Angelika Beer, Enno Lenze , Björn Semrau and Lea Frings . Topics included "Critical infrastructure and how we protect it", "Cybersecurity - conflicts in the civil, military and diplomatic triangle" and "The century of instability? The domino effect of failed states ”.

Conference 2017

The 2017 conference took place from February 16 to 18, as in the previous year, at the Cristal conference and conference hotel in Munich. The speakers included Alessandro Guarino , Alexandre Vautravers and Ivan Bartoš (computer expert and chairman of the Czech Pirate Party). The topics were “New Dimensions in the Threat Landscape”, “Global Governance: Norms, Rules and Practices” and “Conflicts in the 21st Century”.

Conference 2018

The 2018 conference took place from February 17th to 18th in the Echo eV building in Munich. The speakers included Ivan Bartoš, Chris C. Demchak, Chair of Cyber ​​Security and Director of the Center for Cyber ​​Conflict Research (C3S) of the Naval War College , Oktavía Hrund Jónsdóttir , Roger Näbig , Schoresch Davoodi . The subject area was "Resilience" including "Resilience of technical systems and critical infrastructures", "Economic resilience" and "Resilience from a sociological point of view".

Conference 2019

From February 16 to 17, the conference entitled “New Horizons - Unrecognized Challenges” took place in Munich again. Among others, Chris Boos spoke about the economic aspects of AI, Alessandro Guarino on the geopolitical significance of artificial intelligence, Yvonne Hofstetter with a lecture on the arms race in artificial intelligence, Elina Radionova-Girsa from Lithuania and Adam Wolf and Schoresch Davoodi on the situation in Africa and the Middle East.

Conference 2020

The 2020 conference with the title: "New Horizons - Multidimensional World Politics and Security Aspects" will take place from February 15th. until February 16, 2020 in the "designer werkschau München". Speakers included Johannes Rundfeldt , Kurt Klein , Mirjam Fischer freelance journalist & online editor, Gregory Engels , the scientist Herbert Saurugg and Konstantinos Tsetsos .
