Pirate Bay is a board game by Paul Randles and Daniel Stahl .

The game was first published in 2002 by Amigo in German. Days of Wonder produced an English edition in 2003 with slightly different rules as Pirate's Cove and has been distributing this version in German since 2005. Days of Wonder also sells a French version ( La Crique des Pirates) and a Dutch version (Piraten Baai). In Finland the game is distributed as Merirosvopoukama by Lautapelit.fi .

In the game, each player takes on the role of a pirate captain and tries to become the most glorious pirate.

Game flow

The game goes over twelve rounds. At the beginning of each game round, the player can drive his character in the form of a pirate ship to one of six islands. If two ships meet at an island, a fight ensues.

The loser has to retreat to the pirate bay and the winner can plunder the island and improve his ship. Each ship has four categories in which it can be upgraded: the sails, the cannons, the crew and the hull. These values are decisive for victory or defeat in battles.

Furthermore, there are of course treasures to plunder on each island, which you can later unload on the treasure island. Of course, with every treasure chest you get, you gain a lot of fame.

In addition to the other players, a legendary pirate is up to mischief in the waters. You have to avoid him until the ship is strong enough.
