Hunter Parrish (born May 13, 1987 in Richmond , Virginia ) is an American actor and singer.

Parrish was best known for the television series Weeds , in which he played the role of Silas Botwin , and has also appeared in several Hollywood films. Prior to that, Parrish appeared as a guest actor on series such as CSI: Tracking Down the Criminals , Close to Home and Summerland Beach . He also appeared in the films Suddenly in love (2004) and Die Chaoscamper (2006).

In 2007 Parrish had a role in the film Freedom Writers , in which he played Ben Samuels , the only white boy in a California high school class. The critic Thomas Hibbs described Parrish's account in the National Review as "humble humor".

On August 11, 2008, Hunter Parrish took on the lead role of Melchior Gabor in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening , a modern version of Frank Wedekind's drama Spring Awakening . Until the end of January 2009 he could be seen on stage in this role.

From October 13, 2011 to April 15, 2012 Parrish played and sang the role of Jesus in the revival of the Broadway musical "Godspell" in New York City (Circle in the Square Theater).

His first release as a singer is the EP Guessing Games , which was released in June 2012.
