Paul Randles
Paul Joseph Randles (born December 16, 1965 in Seattle , Washington, † February 10, 2003 in Kent , Washington) was an American game designer .
Life
Randles was the son of Patricia M. Gress and Melang F. Randles and had nine siblings. After graduating from Kamiakin High School in 1983 , he received his BA in English from Central Washington University .
Randles worked at Wizards of the Coast , a games company in Renton , Washington, where he worked on games like Robo Rally , The Great Dalmuti, and others. After he left Wizards of the Coast, he founded his own game publisher Randles Games , where he published his own and other authors' games. The game Pirate Bay he developed with Daniel Stahl was also published here.
In 2002, Pirate's Cove by Amigo released. The game was voted ninth place in the German Games Prize in 2002. Randles died of pancreatic cancer the following year .
Shortly before his death, he was working on a sequel to Pirate Bay . He gave a prototype of the game to his friend, game designer Mike Selinker . Together with Bruno Faidutti , Selinker further developed the game, which was then published in 2005 as Key Largo by Tilsit Éditions .
