Werner started the European Cup for the first time in December 2016 in Ruka and finished 28th and 15th. At the 2017 Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco , he jumped to 13th place and at the 2018 Junior World Championships in Minsk to 16th place. In February 2018 he achieved his first podium in the European Cup with second place in Minsk. The following year he was ninth at the World Championships in Park City and sixth in his World Cup debut in Lake Placid . At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he came second in the European Cup in Ruka and Airolo and thus finished sixth in the Aerials discipline. In seven World Cup appearances, he achieved five top ten placements. He achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place in Almaty and at the end of the season he was 17th in the overall World Cup and fourth in the Aerials World Cup.
