Pit Schultz
Pit Schultz (born November 15, 1965 in Heidelberg ) is a German computer scientist , internet activist, author , media artist and founder of several network-based radio stations. Pit Schultz, along with Geert Lovink, is considered to be the founder of network criticism .
Life
Pit Schultz grew up with his younger brother Gerriet Schultz , organizer and later founder of the Berlin club WMF in Heidelberg . After graduating from high school in 1986, he studied computer science at the TU Berlin from 1987 . From 1990 he co-founded the Association for Interdisciplinary Arts Embassy . In 1992 he organized the Berlin hub of the Piazzetta Virtuale ( Van Gogh TV , documenta IX ). 1995–97 he built up the Nettime network and organized workshops and symposia in Frankfurt, Budapest, Vienna, Ljubljana, London and New York. In 1998 he was part of the Hybrid WorkSpace at documenta X in Kassel. In 2000 he became the founder and partner of Klubradio GmbH , under whose roof various experimental radios found their place, in the same year he also founded Mikro, an association for the maintenance of media cultures in Berlin. In 2001, as part of his activities, he founded Bootlab with artist and author Diana McCarty , a non-profit organization for the coordination of independent interdisciplinary cultural projects. 2003–2004 he initiated various radio projects such as Juniradio.net , Radioriff and Reboot.fm on UKW 88.4 MHz in Berlin, which has won several awards and is one of the most important cultural radio stations in Germany. In 2005, Schultz was a guest lecturer at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart. In 2007 he founded Backyardradio.de, in 2009 autumn radio on UKW 99.1 MHz in Berlin. In 2012 he and Artur Żmijewski developed Artwiki , a wiki as a digital exhibition space for contemporary art, as part of the seventh Berlin Biennale .
