Pitfall was a German metalcore - band , which in 2002 Heinsberg was founded.

Band history

Pitfall was founded in 2002 in Heinsberg . The band initially played as a quartet in local clubs and locations and thus gained popularity in their home region. In the same year she released her self-titled and self-produced debut album. The band was accepted into the family of the local music label Unpopular Disclose Records and was given the opportunity to further appearances and a title on the label's first compilation. In 2003 the line-up was expanded to include Sebastian Kötz on guitar , which expanded the sound and also consolidated the band's genre. In this constellation, the first studio CD was recorded in 2004 and released as an EP at the end of the year under the title Our Love For Oppression . A video clip was shot for the song Masquerade Of Hate , which was shown on various TV channels and is featured on the DVD compilation Pro Punkrocker # 4 . The band then played at various (also national) concerts with other genre greats such as Boysetsfire , Maroon , Killswitch Engage .

At the beginning of 2006 Pitfall went back to the studio to record their first studio album The Great Sacrifice , which was released on July 15, 2006. Another video is already being planned.

Due to discrepancies within the band, it was decided after the recordings by mutual agreement to part with bassist Andreas (Bob) . Sebastian's brother Merlin Kötz was brought on board to replace him and has been playing the bass since March / April.

Since the summer of 2007 it has been very quiet around Pitfall, as the band members faced many changes in their private lives. As a consequence, Sebastian left Pitfall to concentrate on his work and on completing his studies. A replacement was found in Matthias Fischer, who has been taking Sebastian's place since the end of September.

Current

After the above mentioned line-up changes, the band took the stage again on October 20, 2007 as the opening act for Heaven Shall Burn and was active again. On April 9, 2009 Johannes announced the end of the band via Myspace.
