Pitof began his career as the person responsible for special effects in video clips for stars like Madonna , Lenny Kravitz and Prince .

In most of the films he has worked on, Pitof has been responsible for the visual effects. These included the French productions Asterix and Obelix against Caesar , The City of Lost Children , The Visitors and Delicatessen .

The visually groundbreaking fantasy horror film Vidocq was positively received internationally in 2001. In 2004 his film Catwoman received damning international reviews. The leading actress of this production Halle Berry later declared in a parody of her Oscar speech on the award of the Golden Raspberry , at which she was one of the few to appear in person: "I want to thank Warner Bros. for casting me in this piece-of-sh--, god-awful movie ".

The movie Fire & Ice: The Dragon Chronicles , released in 2008, is considered his worst work next to Catwoman . Pitof made a point of being featured in the credits as Jean C. Comar.
