Pius Jin Peixian

Pius Jin Peixian ( Chinese  金 沛 獻 ; * March 16, 1924 ; † November 4, 2008 ) was Catholic Archbishop of Liaonin ( Shenyang ).

Pius Jin Peixian was ordained a priest in Shanghai in 1951 . He taught in Beijing and was an accountant in a factory from 1952 to 1956. In 1957 he worked as a priest and was convicted of “counter-revolutionary crimes” in 1958, was imprisoned until 1968 and then banished to an agricultural community for labor service.

From 1980 he worked again as a pastor. In 1989 he was ordained Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Shenyang, recognized by the Curia in 1946 . As a middleman between the Holy See and the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association , he played an essential role in Chinese Catholicism . For many years he was vice-chairman of the Conference of Chinese Bishops, which is not recognized by the Vatican .

In June 2008, he handed over the office to Paul Pei Junmin .
