PixArk is a survival and build -up computer game that will be released in early access for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One in March 2018 . The game will also be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch . The game can be played in both single and multiplayer modes .
Gameplay
The player is on an island that is populated by over 100 different types of dinosaurs . These can be killed or tamed and ridden. In addition, the player must ensure his survival by mining raw materials, producing objects, erecting structures and defending himself against enemy animals and fellow players. The world is made up of individual voxels so that the player can manipulate and adjust the world by adding or removing blocks. The world has several areas such as jungle , desert and caves and is procedurally generated, so it is not prefabricated. The Quest system is also procedural and thus always creates new challenges. In addition to the survival mode, the player can also concentrate on building in the creative mode without being attacked and having to collect resources.
Development and publication
As early as 2017, the development studio Snail Games announced a cooperation with the Ark developer Studio Wildcard. The game was officially announced with a trailer on January 25, 2018 .
PixARK was released in March 2018 in an early access version for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. Versions for Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch are planned.
reception
Due to the pixel graphics and sandbox elements in the game as well as the dinosaurs, the game is also referred to as a mixture of Minecraft and ARK: Survival Evolved . In addition, many other aspects of the gameplay have been adopted and the title of the game alludes to this mixture. According to PC Games, the game is very colorful and entertaining and suitable for all age groups. Because of the look and style of the game, PC Games Hardware also believes it is more suitable for children and young people than ARK: Survival Evolved.
