Remarks

The polka was created during a trip to Russia by the two Strauss brothers in the summer of 1869. The work was very well received by the public when it was first performed. In Vienna the work was performed for the first time on November 14, 1869 under Josef's direction in the Sofienbad Hall . To this day, the polka is very popular and is played again and again. The work should not be confused with the Neue Pizzicato-Polka (op. 449) by Johann Strauss.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 59 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
