Pyotr Olegowitsch Tolstoy (Russian Пётр Олегович Толстой; born June 20, 1969 in Moscow ) is a Russian journalist, actor and politician.

Career

Pyotr Tolstoy, a great-grandson of Leo Tolstoy , was born and raised in Moscow. From 2009 to 2016, he was the chairman of the program committee for Channel One, a popular and semi-public television station in Moscow, chairing social and political issues.

He is a member of the Social Chamber of the Russian Federation. In September 2016 he was elected to the Duma for the Moscow district of Ljublino and the United Russia party. There he was elected deputy chairman of the Duma. He has also been in this position since January 28, 2020 in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

Tolstoy is married and has one child.

controversy

Tolstoy is accused of general anti-Semitism , a lack of neutrality and little reflected distance to President Vladimir Putin in connection with his work with the First Channel .
