The subway station Plaisance is an underground station of Line 13 of the Paris Métro .

location

The station is located in the Quartier de Plaisance of the 14th arrondissement of Paris . It is located alongside the Rue Raymond Losserand south of the crossing Rue d'Alésia.

Surname

The station is named after the district of the same name. The name Plaisance was chosen at the end of the 1850s for a building area in the park of the Château du Maine that was still outside the city until 1860. "Maison de plaisance" is the name for a stately country house or a summer residence.

History and description

The station was opened on January 21, 1937, when the first section of the then line 14 from Bienvenüe (since 1942: Montparnasse - Bienvenüe ) to Porte de Vanves went into operation. This route was planned by the railway company Société du chemin de fer électrique souterrain Nord-Sud de Paris (North-Sud) as line C. After the takeover of this company by the competing Compagnie du chemin de fer métropolitain de Paris (CMP) in 1930, it was built as line 14, according to its numbering scheme. On November 9, 1976, line 14 was connected to line 13 and was given the name of the line. Line number 14 was assigned to a new line in 1998 .

The 75 m long station has two side platforms on two parallel tracks. It lies under an elliptical , white-tiled vault.

At every corner of the above At the crossroads there is an entrance marked with a candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style . Further south there is an additional exit with an escalator on Rue Raymond Losserand.

vehicles

Line 13 has been used by vehicles from the MF 77 series since 1978 . Before that, trains from the MF 67 series were in service there , which in turn replaced the Sprague-Thomson trains in 1976.
