Plak Music

Plak Music is a music label for Turkish Pop and Turkish-German Hip-Hop. Founded in 1999 by Jochen Kühling and Ünal Yüksel , Plak (Turkish for record) is at times a sub-label of Warner Music , later Sony BMG and Edel Music . The small record company was instrumental in the discovery of the singer Muhabbet in 2005 .

Initially specializing in hip-hop, the label soon added Turkish pop music to its program and in 2003, for example, received the German publishing rights to various pieces by Grand Prix winner Sertab Erener , which were successfully published by Sony Music . Ali Güven , Kalusha , Kenan , Tarik Sarzep are at times the label's own artists. The Turkish superstar Sezen Aksu also published in Germany via Plak Music and published the samplers Best Of Turkish Pop Vol.1 and Best Of Turkish Pop Vol.2 .

In 2007 Plak Music was represented for the first time at Popkomm .

At the end of 2007, the label achieved particular fame with the publication of the song Germany , about which a dispute arose in German media.

Plak has offices in Istanbul and Berlin .
