The Plankington Bluff is a large and 1800 m high rock cliff in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Patuxent Range of the Pensacola Mountains , it looms 8 km southeast of Shurley Ridge along the southwest rim of the Mackin Table .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy in the years from 1956 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1968 by John C. Plankington Jr., meteorologist at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctic winter 1967.
