The Patuxent Range is a large mountain range of the Pensacola Mountains in Queen Elizabeth Land in West Antarctica . It includes the Thomas Hills , Anderson Hills , Mackin Table and a number of nunatakkers and ridges, and is traversed by the Foundation Ice Stream , Academy Glacier, and Patuxent Ice Stream.
The mountain range was discovered and partially photographed during the transcontinental flight of the United States Navy on January 13, 1956 as part of the first Operation Deep Freeze from McMurdo Sound to the Weddell Sea and back. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1962 after the Naval Air Station Patuxent River .
