The Foundation Ice Stream or Foundation Ice Stream is a large, approximately 240 kilometers long ice stream that flows northward in the Pensacola Mountains along the western flank of the Patuxent Range and the Neptune Range to the southernmost part of the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf , which it flows west of the Dufek -Massiv reached. The Möllereisstrom runs even further to the west .
The area was geodetically surveyed by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs by the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the National Science Foundation , a foundation that plays a leading role in the Played in support of the United States Antarctic Program .
