The Neptune Range is an approximately 112 km long mountain range in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . It extends west-southwest of the Forrestal Range in the center of the Pensacola Mountains .
He was discovered and photographed during the transcontinental flight carried out by the United States Navy on January 13, 1956 as part of the first Operation Deep Freeze from McMurdo Sound to the Weddell Sea and back. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1957 after the aircraft type P2V-2N Neptune with which this flight was accomplished. The mapping was done by the United States Geological Survey 1967 to 1968 and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1964.
