Plateau de Beille

The Plateau de Beille is a winter sports resort in the French Pyrenees . The place is located in the Occitania region in the Ariège department . The winter sports station is at an altitude of 1780 meters.
Cycling
Plateau de Beille was a stage location of the Tour de France in 1998 , 2002 , 2004 , 2007 and 2011 . In the 12th stage of the Tour de France 2015 , the approximately 12,500 meter long and on average almost 8% steep ascent of the so-called "Hors Catégorie" was mastered for the sixth time.
In 1998 the Italian Marco Pantani won the stage , in 2002 and 2004 the US-American Lance Armstrong , 2007 the Spaniard Alberto Contador , 2011 the Belgian Jelle Vanendert and 2015 the Catalan Joaquim Rodríguez .
