Plato Dmitrievich Morozov

Plato Dmitrijewitsch Morosow ( Russian Платон Дмитриевич Морозов ; *  1906 in Saint Petersburg , †  1986 ) was a Soviet lawyer . From 1970 to 1985 he worked as a judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague .

Life

Morozov studied in his hometown of Law and worked for about 20 years as a practicing lawyer and the Prosecutor General of the USSR. In 1946 he was a member of the Soviet delegation to the Tokyo trials and from 1951 to 1968 a representative of the Soviet Union to the UN Commission on Human Rights . At the same time he was deputy head of the legal department of the Soviet Foreign Ministry. From 1960 to 1968 he was Deputy Representative of the USSR to the United Nations Security Council and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations. In 1969 he becameJudge at the International Court of Justice elected and wrote in his tenure seven dissenting votes , three separate Opinions and an explanation. In August 1985, he resigned from office for health reasons. His compatriot Nikolai Tarasov was elected to succeed him.
