The Platt Point is a headland at the Bowman Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . As a northern extension of a rock spur in the western section of the Hollick Kenyon Peninsula, it marks the east entrance from Mobiloil Inlet to Bowman Inlet .
The American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth photographed the headland during an overflight on November 23, 1935. Aerial photos that were more suitable for localization were taken in 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1977 after Hospital Corpsman William D. Platt, who had been part of the wintering team at Palmer Station in 1968 .
