Platycis minutus is a beetle from the family of lycidae (Lycidae).
description
The beetles become 5 to 10 millimeters long. They look very similar to the scarlet web beetles , but differ from them by their completely black pronotum . In addition, they have red, longitudinally striped and slightly irregularly latticed wings and an otherwise black body. The last, 11th member of the strong antennae is somewhat elongated and brightly colored. The beetles have dark colored hind wings.
They occur everywhere in Central Europe and are also common in southern Germany . The larvae live in rotten wood and eat insects .
