Platyla perpusilla is a land-living snail from the family of the Mulmnadeln (Aciculidae) in the order of Architaenioglossa ("old bandworm").

features

The right-hand wound cases are 1.3 to 2.0 mm high and 0.65 to 0.70 mm wide. They are comparatively very small, almost cylindrical and have 4.5 to 5.5 slightly curved circumferences. The height of the last passage reaches about a quarter of the total height of the case, but the last turn hardly rises towards the mouth. The passageways do not have any suture thread or edge under the seam . The mouth is square-rounded in the frontal view and pointed at the top. The height of the mouth is 0.5 to 0.6 mm, the width 0.35 to 0.45 mm. In the side view, the hem of the mouth is bent slightly convex forward in the middle. It is a little bit extended at the base and on the spindle side. The parietal callus is clearly developed, but an angularis is absent. The very narrow and thin umbilical callus is restricted to the umbilical region; it does not extend towards the parietal callus. In the neck area, a very slight thickening (neck bulge) can only be seen when the magnification is greater. The cases are colorless and transparent.

Similar species

The casing of Platyla stussineri and Platyla minutissima are even smaller, Platyla stussineri is also narrower than Platyla perpusilla . Furthermore, the case mouth of Platyla stussineri is more rounded in the frontal view and the edge of the mouth in the side view is more convexly curved towards the front in the center. Platyla minutissima is not only smaller, but the case is even more cylindrical. Platyla microspira is very similar in shape and size of the housing to Platyla perpusilla , but has a bulge in the neck, which is flat but sharply defined towards the rear.

Platyla similis and Platyla jankowskiana are larger and wider than Platyla perpusilla . Platyla similis has a more conical casing, the neck bulge is indistinctly limited. In the case of Platyla jankowskiana , the mouth is more rounded-oval in the frontal view.

Geographical distribution, occurrence and way of life

The range of the species includes Serbia , western Romania and northeastern Hungary. The occurrence in Hungary on the border with Ukraine is a genist find on the Tisza , ie the empty housings could also have been washed in from the Ukraine (or northwestern Romania). The animals live in damp locations in the leaf litter and in the mud of forests.

Taxonomy

The taxon was first described in 1880 by Otto Reinhardt as Acme perpusilla . Boeters et al. (1989) put the species in the genus Platyla .
