Scientific name
Architaenioglossa
Haller , 1890

The Architaenioglossa are a group of non-marine snails , which are probably the sister group of the Sorbeoconcha and are united with them in a parent taxon Caenogastropoda . The monophyly is not yet fully established.

characterization

The earlier justification of the taxon by means of the "architaeniogloss" radula , a radula with 3 or more marginal teeth , cannot be maintained because the characteristic is plesiomorphic . Instead, Ponder and Lindberg 1997 list four other presumably apomorphic features (in the area of the buccal apparatus, in the mitochondria , the nervous system and in the size of the osphradium ). However, they acknowledge that the monophyly is not very well founded and the group could be paraphyletic . So far, the group only includes forms living on land and in freshwater (the systematic position of a marine species that was placed in relation to the architaenioglossa has not yet been conclusively clarified).

Systematics

The Architaenioglossa were founded by Ponder and Lindberg in 1997 as the sister group of the Sorbeoconcha and united with this in a superordinate taxon Caenogastropoda . Ponder and Lindberg 1997 as well as Bouchet and Rocroi 2005 did not determine any rank in the linneisch-hierarchical sense, but referred to the group as "clade", ie branch in the phylogenetic system of snails. Systema Naturae 2000 assigned the group a level of order. Bouchet & Rocroi (2005) list the following families and superfamilies within the order Architaenioglossa:
