The Playa Chungungo ( Spanish ) is a beach in the north of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the east side of Cape Shirreff on the northern foothills of the John Paul II peninsula, it is located on the south bank of the Bahía Mansa between the Roca Granito in the north and the Punta Cachorros in the east.
Scientists from the 45th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1990–1991) named him. It is named after the fact that some boulders on this beach are reminiscent of coastal otters ( Lontra felina ; Spanish common name Chunungo ).
