The Playa Golondrina (of Spanish golondrina de mar , Tern ' ) is a beach on the banks of Barclay Bay of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located north of Punta Las Torres on the west side of Cape Shirreff on the northern foothills of the John Paul II peninsula .
Scientists from the 45th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1990–1991) named it that because terns breed between the rocks on the beach.
