Plaza of Nations
Plaza of Nations is a leisure and entertainment center in the Canadian city of Vancouver . It is located on the northeast bank of False Creek next to BC Place Stadium . The center was part of the Canadian pavilion during Expo 86 and, together with Science World and Canada Place, is one of the buildings that have been preserved from this world exhibition.
The building has been owned by real estate company Canadian Metropolitan Properties since 1990. It includes the Enterprise Hall , the West Building , the East Building , the Edgewater Casino, and the Covered Plaza . The Plaza of Nations hosts numerous cultural events, especially rock and pop concerts (including Foo Fighters , Hootie and the Blowfish , Pixies , The Strokes and No Means No ).
In 2006, the city authorities described the glass roof of the inner courtyard as unsafe. In January 2007 the owner decided not to renovate the roof due to excessive costs. Instead, the plan is to demolish the entire complex and replace it with a new building.
