Pleikard Sindringer

Pleikard Sindringer, also: Blichardus Syndringer ; (* around 1490 in Schwäbisch Hall ; † March 6, 1551 in Jena ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Sindringer was the last of a Swabian knight dynasty. He first studied at the University of Heidelberg and in 1519 moved to the University of Wittenberg . In 1536 he became an associate professor at the law faculty and was the following year doctor of law and rector of the Wittenberg University . In 1541 Sindringer visited the Reichstag in Regensburg as a member of the Electoral Saxon embassy and in 1543 was used in full by Elector Johann Friedrich I of Saxony in state affairs, with which he also resigned from the teaching staff of the Wittenberg University.

Together with the elector, he was captured at the battle of Mühlberg in 1547 and went with him to Jena, where he appeared as the first legal scholar of the newly founded high school. Sindringer was married to a daughter of the Wittenberg printer Melchior Lotter the Younger .
