The Policía Foral de Navarra ( bask . Nafarroako Foruzaingoa ) is the autonomous police the Spanish region since 1982 Navarre .

history

It was founded in 1929 under the name Policía de Carreteras (German: Road Police ) and, due to the fact that Navarre has its own regional infrastructure, its task was to monitor traffic.

Since the still valid today Statute of Autonomy of 1982 are, in addition to the Ertzaintza ( Basque Country ) and the Mossos d'Esquadra ( Catalonia ) to one of three police forces, which in Spain directly to an Autonomous Community are subject, and in these regions the duties of Take over Civil Guard . The Policía Foral currently has around 1,100 police officers (2010), but the aim is to increase it to around 1,200 in the medium term.
