Polio Initiative Europe
The Polio Initiative Europa is a German-European society for the promotion of research, prevention , rehabilitation and self-help in the case of poliomyelitis and its long-term effects. It is a registered association (eV), the association's seat is in Giessen .
The patrons are the former President of the Bundestag Rita Süssmuth and the former MEP Ozan Ceyhun .
The association publishes the journal Polio Europa Aktuell ( ISSN 1618-8551 ) every quarter . Membership is open to both those affected and those not affected. The polio guide is given to members.
In some cities in Germany polio clubs have been set up that meet regularly.
Lectures are organized on World Polio Day and the general meeting.
