The police cooperation (PZ; English: police cooperation , PC, French: policière coopération , CP) is a policy of the European Union . It is regulated in Art. 87 to Art. 89 TFEU . Together with politics in the field of border controls, asylum and immigration , judicial cooperation in civil matters and judicial cooperation in criminal matters , the PC serves the overarching concept of an “ area of freedom, security and justice ”.

The PZ emerged with the Treaty of Lisbon 2007 from the police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (PJZS). In contrast to the PJZS, however, the ordinary legislative procedure applies to the PZ , in which the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament are equally involved.
