Polycarpose Geevarghese
Polycarpose Mor Geevarghese (born April 5, 1933 in Mulanilkunnathil, Chennithala , Mavelikkara , India ; † March 6, 2011 in Iritty, Kannur , Kerala , India) was an Indian clergyman of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church and metropolitan of the Evangelical Association of the East (EAE) and St. Antony's Mission (Mission Honnavar) in Damascus.
Life
Geevarghese studied at Mangalore University and in the seminary in Malecruz Dayro, Puthencruz, Kerala. He was ordained deacon in 1956 and ordained priest in 1957. In 1978 he was ordained a Corepiscopos and worked for the Evangelical Association of the East (EAE) . On May 27, 1990, he was ordained Metropolitan of the Evangelical Association of the East (EAE) of Damascus by His Holiness Ignatius Zakka I. Iwas . He was Patron and President of the Evangelical Association of the East (EAE) , the first missionary association of the Syrian Orthodox Church, under the direct control of the Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch and all of the East .
Polycarpose Mor Geevarghese was buried at St. Antony's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral in Jeppu, Mangalore after a memorial service. The celebration was chaired by Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I , the incumbent " Catholicos of India" of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church.
