Polydora (daughter of Peleus)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polydora ( Greek  Πολυδώρα ) is a figure in Greek mythology .

Regarding her parentage and her son, the sources agree only insofar as she was the daughter of the Myrmidon king Peleus and the mother of the Troy warrior Menesthios .

Polymele (the daughter of the actor of Phthia ) is usually named as the mother of Polydora , but also her sister Eurydice , Laodameia (the daughter of Alkmaion ), or Antigone (another Phthian princess). In most of the cases it turns out that Polydora was a (half) sister of Achilles .

She married the Theban Boros . According to tradition, Menesthios' son is said to come from the river god Spercheios or from the giant Pelor, who overpowered her while bathing in the same river.

Last but not least, she could be regarded as identical to the Danaide Polydora , which would make Danaos her father.
