The Brown Valley is a rectangular and icy valley in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . At the northeast end of the Ames Range , it lies between Mount Kauffman and Mount Kosciusko .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the valley using its own surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1959 and 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Thomas I. Brown, meteorologist for the United States Antarctic Research Program on the Byrd Station in 1963.
