The bridge is located east of the old town and leads over the northern arm to an island formed by the Seine . The Allée des Boulangers leads to the Pont Saint-Barthélémy , which spans the southern arm.

history

The Pont des Boulangers was built at the end of the 16th century to enable the wall of the Rue des Ponts to be overridden by the Seine: at a general assembly on June 24th and 25th, 1596, the citizens decided to build this fortification wall that would enclose the walls should connect the two districts of Bourg and Chaumont . The original name of this bridge - Pont des Grandes Grilles - goes back to the weir grilles that once closed the bridge arches.

In 1641 a flood partially destroyed the bridge. On February 1, 1833, the Châtillon- based architect Simon Tridon presented a plan for the repair and widening of the bridge; the work on this was carried out in 1833 and 1834.
