from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The city fortifications of Châtillon-sur-Seine are the partially listed city fortifications of the French city of Châtillon-sur-Seine .

history

After approval by the Bishop of Langres in 1168, the city was fortified in the second half of the 12th century, and two independent curtain walls were built around the districts of Chaumont (north of the Seine ) and Bourg (south of the Seine ). On the island that separated them, the new district of Rue des Ponts was built , which in turn was fortified during the Huguenot Wars (citizens' decision of June 24th and 25th, 1586). This new system formed the connection to the other two. In the 17th century, modifications and bastions were built.
