Poppo I. (Istria)

Count Poppo I (* before 1012; † July 13th around 1044) from the House of Weimar was margrave in Istria (1012-1044). Various sources also refer to him as Margrave of Krain , and even as Margrave of (Lower) Carinthia .

Life

Poppo's father was Wilhelm II of Weimar. Poppo married Hadamut (Hadamuot, also called Azzika), the daughter of Count Werigant (Weriant, Wezzelin, † around 1051?) Of Istria- Friuli and Willibirg, daughter of victory Hardinger Count Ulrich von Ebersberg († 1029), who already count in who was Mark Krain. Hadamut († after 1040) brought him the Istrian peninsula as a dowry.

From his marriage to Hadamut he left a son and heir named Ulrich († 1070).
